2yng2smpl is an outsider artist who makes music, videos, graphic design, and occasional collage. Mostly music, which is his primary passion. Despite an overall lack of talent and training—formidable hurdles—he has remained committed to making music since about 2015.
Pronounced “Too Young, Too Simple” the name is a reference to the former military leader of China, Chiang Kai Shek. It evokes immediacy, unpretentiousness,
2yng2smpl’s music has been described as frenetic, immediate, wonky, and questionable.
He makes big sounds and open spaces, not always in tune or in kind.

Artist Statement
“One of my secrets is that I never listen to other people's music or really pay much attention to art (unless I’m looking for something to steal/copy). This establishes a self-contained creative feedback loop where I am my only influence. Without external contaminants or self-reflection, I propagate myself exclusively, an act of ouroboros. As the dragon eats itself, what waste is left behind? The Divine Excrement is, of course, art.”
Early Work:
In 2015, I started making vaporwave type music on my phone, using imovie, to make esoteric and strange music and videos. Nobody really loved it that much, but it got me started on making music. Definitely proof that limitations begat creativity.
I had no musical training or real natural ability, so I got a Kaossillator Pro because it doesn’t have a complicated DAW or even a piano. I got interested in tapes because it's the fastest and most immediate way to record.
It's embarrassing to admit, but really I just fell in love with wobble bass around 2010 and have been trying to recreate those sounds since. I make art that defies quality and convention. Free from the burden of talent, skill, or patience; more accurately: compulsive, erratic and immature.
