DELAYING GREATNESS EP (SNEAK PEEK)

Yeah, we’re doing it again. Tape Lab’s got an EP brewing behind the curtain, and it’s called DELAYING GREATNESS — fitting, since we’ve been sitting on this one like some kind of ouroboros eating its own tail. (Yes, we did know that was a word, but thanks for keeping us on our toes.)

We’ve been circling this release like vultures at a late-night diner, and now it’s finally shaping up. Thematically its loops, cycles, infinite spirals — Ouroboros 101 but with fuzz pedals, broken samplers, and questionable life choices.

What’s Inside This Beautiful Mistake:

If this track was a car, it’d be tearing down a midnight highway at 110, headlights busted but still pushing. Driving bass, percussion that’ll slap you awake, and just enough chaos to make you feel alive.

We dragged this one out of the archives, gave it a much-needed tune-up, and now it’s shining like a cheap trophy under fluorescent lights. Listen for those bent 5th notes from the Yamaha RM1X—who knew that ancient box could drip this much smoothness?

Spacey, restrained, but still propelling you forward. It’s the breather you didn’t know you needed, but you’ll be glad it’s there. We’re thinking of adding some dusty House piano chords to this one, you know, give it that late-night warehouse soul. What do you think?

So What Now?

We’re still deep in the lab on this. Should we let it marinate longer or just throw it out into the world like an unsolicited mixtape? Got ideas? We’re all ears, unless you suggest autotune—we’re not that ironic.

Let us know in the comments how you’re feeling. Stay tuned, and maybe don’t trust the snake eating its own tail.

TapeLab

Welcome to #TapeLab—stay a while and listen. Founded in 2017 by lifelong friends, Tape Lab is a collective of artists and a hub for innovation, always open to collaboration. With the zeal of a self-published memoir, our sound is our own, but you can be the decider. We make music and art that sounds like it was fun to make and stands out in a sea of bland beats.

As independent artists, we are always exploring new ways to expand our audience and find new creative outlets—especially with other undiscovered artists!

#TapeLab is currently based out of two headquarters in Durham, NC, and The Hamptons, NY.
