New Release: Juxtaposeur

New album from Tape Lab originally recorded in 2024 and just retroactively released on all streaming platforms - JUXTAPOSEUR. The album title is a play on words between juxtaposition (smashing two sounds together) and “poseur” (using presets). Anyway, enjoy!

Window Seat

Starting off strong with a light and airy beat. We like the beat chops and breaks, plus - its a little less chaotic than some of the later tracks.

Juxtaposer

Moving into the title track. Built using blocks and sounds from the SP-404 and beats on the TRS-8S, this beat-in-a-box has that classic cheeze you know and hate. A prevailing cheepniss, but none the less, a sound emerges.

Trinkette 115

You guessed it, this little interlude is at 115 BPM. If you can guess who is speaking in those samples, good for you! (Joseph Campbell)

Jazzorcism

One of the (few) great joys of making electronic music is that you get to come up with titles for music that has no lyrics and isn’t really about anything. This is one of those. Jazzy, I guess? I don’t listen to Jazz.

Juxtapoison

A continuation of some ideas introduced in Juxtaposuer, the juxtaposition is poignant. This one gets weird!

Carson Nightly

Were you waiting to hear more from the Yamaha RM1X? Another interlude…. is it going somewhere?

PRAYERUNNER 2000

YES IT IS. ITS LEADING HERE. Long form jam, as is customary for Tape Lab to conclude the album with a prolonged, indulgent jam. But its got good techno groove.

Juxtaposer - Radio Edit

This is the one that you’ll hear on the radio. Slower, calmer, less crazy.

TapeLab

Welcome to #TapeLab—stay a while and listen. Founded in 2017 by lifelong friends, Tape Lab is a collective of artists and a hub for innovation, always open to collaboration. With the zeal of a self-published memoir, our sound is our own, but you can be the decider. We make music and art that sounds like it was fun to make and stands out in a sea of bland beats.

As independent artists, we are always exploring new ways to expand our audience and find new creative outlets—especially with other undiscovered artists!

#TapeLab is currently based out of two headquarters in Durham, NC, and The Hamptons, NY.
